  • 2 refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the pie crusts and cut them into rectangles of equal size.
  • In a bowl, mix together softened butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla until creamy.
  • Add flour and salt to the butter mixture, combining until it forms a cookie dough consistency.
  • Spread a layer of cookie dough on half of the rectangles, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over the cookie dough layer.
  • Place the remaining rectangles on top, sealing the edges with a fork.
  • Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the pop tarts for a golden finish.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the pop tarts are golden brown.
  • Allow them to cool before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.
