- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 stalk celery, thinly chopped (optional)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon dried basil
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup bread crumbs
- ⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- ½ cup tomato sauce (or ketchup)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, celery (if using), spices, bread crumbs, and cheese.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
Add the wet ingredients to the meat mixture and mix gently with your hands until just combined. Don't overmix!
Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared loaf pan.
In a skillet over medium heat, warm up the tomato sauce (or ketchup). Pour this over the top of the meatloaf.
Bake for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 160°F (71°C).
Let the meatloaf rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
