Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Large Skillet or Pan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Strainer

Ingredients

  • 12 oz bow tie pasta (farfalle)
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy), casings removed
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the bow tie pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles until fully cooked and browned. Remove any excess grease if needed.
  • Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes and heavy cream. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and let the sauce simmer for 5-10 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and combined.
  • Garnish with fresh basil or parsley, if desired, and serve hot.
