Prep Time 15 minutes mins
Cook Time 1 hour hr 30 minutes mins
Total Time 1 hour hr 45 minutes mins
- 1 lb beef tips (sirloin or stew meat)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp cold water (for thickening)
- Salt to taste
Season the beef tips with salt and pepper. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the beef tips and brown on all sides, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the diced onions and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
Return the beef tips to the skillet. Cover and let it simmer on low heat for about 1-1.5 hours, or until the beef is tender.
Once the beef is tender, mix the cornstarch with cold water and stir it into the skillet. Cook for another 5 minutes, or until the gravy has thickened to your liking.
Serve the beef tips and gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles, and enjoy!
